Autumn breaks in the Loch Lomond National Park

September Rhumhor Holiday LodgeAutumn is such a beautiful time to visit the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. I noticed this weekend that the pink horse chestnut in the front garden at Rhumhor is just starting to show its autumn colours and soon that blush of colour will be spreading far and wide across the park. The Argyll Forest puts on its finest autumn hues, the bracken on the hills and mountains turns to rust and the loch seems to turn a steely grey as coils of soft silver mist drift along.

It always seems to be a good time to spot wildlife as it starts to prepare for winter. The stags roar across the mountains, the red squirrels are scampering around stocking up their food supplies and the seal colony here on Loch Goil seems to become more active with seals often popping up in front of the house at high tide.
